[Who this is for]

For teams responsible for changing infrastructure

The assessment is intended for organizations that need a defined, time-bound view of reachable services and network control boundaries. SignX supports remote security assessments for international clients, subject to technical feasibility and agreed engagement scope. On-site network assessments are available depending on location, travel arrangements and the project quotation.

01

Infrastructure changes

Organizations preparing significant platform, hosting or connectivity changes.

02

Internet exposure

Businesses that need a defined view of agreed internet-facing systems and services.

03

Internal segmentation

Teams reviewing administrative access and trust boundaries between approved network zones.

04

Connected environments

Companies integrating offices, cloud workloads or acquired systems under one operating model.

[Business value]

A clearer basis for infrastructure risk decisions

A scoped network assessment helps technical owners understand reachable services and control boundaries while keeping operational risk and untested systems visible.

01

Exposure visibility

Document observations across the external, internal or wireless boundary selected for review.

02

Remediation priorities

Connect confirmed findings to affected targets and practical configuration work.

03

Operational context

Give infrastructure owners a time-bound view for change, integration and review planning.

[Confirmed capabilities]

Network assessment modes

SignX's in-house security team supports external, internal, wireless and on-site assessments. Credentialed testing and controlled exploitation are not included in this service.

External assessments

Review of client-owned internet-facing ranges, domains and reachable services named in scope.

Internal assessments

Review of approved internal network zones and access paths within the client-authorized boundary.

Wireless assessments

Review of approved wireless environments and boundaries under written client authorization.

On-site assessments

Assessment performed at an approved client location under agreed access, safety and operational rules.

Delivered by SignX's in-house security team

Network assessment activities

These activities are available capabilities. Approved ranges, access, fragile systems, wireless boundaries and on-site safeguards must be documented for each engagement.

  • Reachable services

Assessment of authorized network services reachable within the approved boundary.

  • Network configuration

    Assessment of security-relevant network configuration.

  • Patch and version exposure

Assessment of patch and version exposure observable within scope.

  • Administrative access

Security review of approved administrative-access paths without implying credentialed network testing.

  • Network segmentation

Assessment of approved segmentation boundaries and reachable paths.

Available activities are selected in the written scope and quotation

[Problems addressed]

Exposure and configuration risk across agreed network zones

The final scope determines what is tested. These areas show the kinds of network risk an authorized assessment may examine.

01

Reachable services

Unnecessary externally accessible services and weak exposure controls.

02

Configuration and patching

Missing patches, insecure defaults and service settings that increase risk.

03

Administrative access

Exposure and security observations for approved administrative-access paths, without implying credentialed testing.

04

Segmentation

Trust and routing gaps between network zones selected for review.

05

Legacy systems

Unsupported technologies, default settings and older protocols within the approved range.

06

Asset visibility

Incomplete knowledge of systems and services reachable inside the authorized boundary.

[Assessment scope]

Target ranges, access and prohibited actions agreed first

External, internal, wireless or on-site workstreams can be selected during scoping. Target ownership, access paths, fragile systems, testing windows and emergency contacts are documented. Credentialed assessment, controlled exploitation and cloud control-plane testing are not included.

01

External boundary

Owned internet-facing ranges, domains and services included in the assessment.

02

Internal, wireless and on-site boundary

Approved network zones, wireless environments, access paths and client locations named in the engagement.

03

Safety controls

Fragile systems, testing windows, escalation contacts and permitted non-destructive assessment activity.

04

Explicit exclusions

Credentialed assessment, controlled exploitation, social engineering, denial of service, cloud control-plane review and unauthorized third-party targets are not included.

[Engagement process]

From ownership confirmation to prioritized remediation

A practical sequence keeps authorization, fragile systems and operational risk visible throughout the assessment.

01

Confirm ownership

Record target ranges, exclusions and safe-test rules.

02

Establish access

Prepare approved access and asset context.

03

Discover and assess

Evaluate services within the authorized boundary.

04

Validate

Confirm findings using the least disruptive approved method.

05

Report and read out

Deliver prioritized findings and configuration guidance.

06

Agree retesting

Retesting arrangements, including scope, timing and any applicable fees, are agreed as part of the project quotation.

Standard assessment deliverables

Seven standard deliverables for each scoped assessment

Severity model: CVSS 4.0 + Business Context. CVSS v4.0 is applied to technical vulnerabilities when it is suitable and supported by the available evidence. Technical severity, affected assets and exploit conditions are recorded separately from business impact, asset criticality and remediation priority. When CVSS is unsuitable or the evidence is insufficient, the report uses a reasoned qualitative severity and clearly states its basis.

  • Executive summary for business and technical stakeholders
  • Documented assessment scope, exclusions, environments, dates and testing limitations
  • Validated technical findings with appropriately redacted supporting evidence
  • Severity ratings and business-risk prioritization using the approved CVSS 4.0 + Business Context model where applicable
  • Actionable remediation recommendations
  • Technical assessment report and client readout session
  • Retesting arrangements documented according to the project's agreed scope and quotation
[FAQ]

Questions before a network assessment

The answers separate discovery, assessment and controlled validation while keeping operational safety decisions in the written scope.

Which network assessment modes does SignX support?

SignX's in-house team supports external, internal, wireless and on-site network assessments. The proposal must identify the selected workstreams, authorized targets and location or access requirements.

Can internal and external networks be assessed together?

Yes, they can be separate workstreams in one engagement when ownership, access, ranges, safety controls and reporting boundaries are agreed. Credentialed testing and controlled exploitation are not included.

Does this include cloud security?

Only client-owned network-accessible targets explicitly listed in scope. Cloud identity, account configuration and control-plane review are not included in this service.

Will the assessment disrupt systems?

Testing should be planned to reduce operational risk, but no assessment is risk-free. Fragile systems, prohibited techniques, maintenance windows and incident contacts must be agreed before testing.
